AllianceGeo’s Geocells are comprised of a set of expandable panels, manufactured from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Standard cells are textured and perforated to maximize cell wall friction and drainage, but can also be provided smooth if needed. Once expanded, the cellular mattress is filled with soil, sand, or rock and compacted.

AllianceGeo’s range of geocells can be used in a variety of applications including:

When subjected to pressure, the fill material within the geocell generates high lateral pressures which are transferred into the high-strength, HDPE panels. This mechanism helps provide a 3-dimensional confinement zone which creates a stiff mattress to help distribute applied loads, reduce the tendency to punch through any underlying soft soils, increase the overall bearing capacity and reduce total and differential settlement.

The stiff mattress provided by the geocell layer allows the design of more cost effective pavement systems using local materials rather than expensive aggregate materials. The geocell can be used for surface stabilization in unpaved and temporary access roads, and for base stabilization in permanently paved roadways.
